Cycling Connects Us to People, and Art

Cycling has given me opportunities to meet friends, create and collaborate. Recently, I volunteered at an event where a local artist’s design was painted onto a bike lane. With brushes in hand, we transformed a piece of asphalt into something vibrant and welcoming. Riding over that lane now, makes me smile every time. The city became our coloring book, and we left our mark in bright strokes of paint.

But not all artistic cycling endeavors require actual paint. Sometimes, wheels alone are enough. A few days ago, I joined a group of women for a ride that turned our city’s streets into a canvas for Strava art. Together, we carefully mapped our route, and with every turn of the pedals, we sketched letters onto the digital map—spelling out one simple, joyful word: Taco.

Riding a bike i smore than connecting place, it provides the opportunity to connect with people.

I am an urban being willing to see cities for people. I believe that cities should be places to improve the quality of life of the people and should not represent a torture to live on it. I am a sustainable urban transport consultant, pedestrian/city walker, eco-friendly, vegetarian, NMT and Public Transit lover. I hold a Master in Public Policy from Hertie School of Governance in Berlin, a B.A. in International Business from ITESM in Mexico City and a B.A. in Economics from UNAM in Mexico City. I have lived in 8 cities of different sizes, all of them with their own character that have influenced me somehow. Born and raised in Mexico City, I have been adopted by Paris, Leipzig, Berlin, Quito, Los Angeles, Frankfurt and Charleston.
